COVID-19 Updates and What to Expect at the Show

The Grey Eagle Event Centre & Casino will be implementing the Restrictions Exemption Program (REP)/ Vaccine Passport Bylaw as outlined below; the measure will allow the GEC to conduct business as usual. It is important to note that It is mandatory that all guests follow the protocols to keep each other safe.

Businesses that implement the Restrictions Exemption Program can operate as usual if they only serve people (ages 12 and over) who have:

  • Proof of vaccination
    • single dose accepted between September 20 and October 25 if received 2 weeks before time of service
    • double doses required after October 25
  • Documentation of a medical exemption
  • Proof of a privately-paid negative PCR or rapid test within 72 hours of service (tests from AHS or Alberta Precision Laboratories not allowed)

Additional

  • Guest Rooms
    • Hotel guests do not require proof of vaccination to stay in hotel rooms. REP can be implemented for your other hotel facilities; however guest rooms can be made available to all regardless of vaccination status. Masking and physical distancing rules apply for all hotel common areas.
  • Restaurants
    • If participating in REP, restaurants no longer need to end liquor service at 10pm or end liquor consumption at 11pm. General masking and physical distancing rules apply.
  • Meeting Rooms
    • If participating in REP, no capacity limits apply but general masking and 2 metre physical distancing rules apply indoors.
    • Meeting organizer/planner/on-site representative will be required to certify that meeting/event attendees have provided proper documentation by signing a form on the first day of the meeting/event prior to start of service <attachment>

    Signage will be posted at entry points and hotel staff will be conducting checks. The City’s community peace officers and police officers will be using a coordinated enforcement approach to respond to reported complaints regarding the Vaccine Passport Bylaw, working with Alberta Health Services when required.
